We are thrilled to welcome Professor Eric L. Muller back to the Los Angeles Bankruptcy Forum Distinguished Speaker Program.  Professor Muller is a distinguished legal historian at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  An award winning educator and author, he has written acclaimed books and curated impactful museum exhibits.  Among his notable works is Lawyer, Jailer, Ally, Foe which examines the complex roles of lawyers during the incarceration of Japanese Americans in World War II.

Since 2011, he has served as a faculty member with the Fellowships at Auschwitz for the Study of Professional Ethics, and in 2018, he became its Academic Director.  His scholarship explores the intersection of law, ethics and history focusing on the roles of professionals in shaping systems of injustice.

This year, professor Muller will turn his attention to the mass incarceration of Japanese Americans during World War II-  examining the legal, social and ethical dimensions of this dark chapter in American history.
